Mexican Night!

For dinner tonight, I made tacos, refried beans, and cheesy rice. It was the first time Drew had any of these foods and he liked them all!

Who said you had to eat with a spoon???

Labor Day Weekend - Sunday and Monday Activities

Sunday was a busy day. First, we went to Aunt Dar's for a cookout.

Here is a face I see a lot of...Drew pulling up to me wanting to be picked up!


Then we went to our friend's Brian and Shelly's house. Drew really liked all the wildlife in their basement :) (He has his jammies on in these pics...)



Today, we went to Raleigh's first birthday party. Her grandpa is the Partner-in-Charge at the office I work at. I have seen many pictures of her, but today was the first time I actually met her! She is even prettier than her pictures!

Mama MK's Birthday!

We are going to have a busy Labor Day weekend, so today we took it easy and relaxed some. Here are some pics...

Later this afternoon, we went out to eat. Drew was, of course, looking at everyone and smiling. He will not stay forward facing in his high chair when we are out. One lady who had been talking to him stopped by our table on her way out and said that she had been drawn in by his big blue eyes. Then she asked if he had been born with a cleft lip. I told her yes, and she said that her son (who is now 30) was also born with a cleft lip. Funny how "common" it seems to me now!

Then we went to Mama Mary Kay's house to celebrate her birthday!





Drew got a "present" too -- this cute little singing frog halloween decoration from Hallmark!

Drew is 14 Months Old!

Today, Drew is 14 months old! He had speech today and I took some pictures of him and Jaci "playing." He is really getting good with his "b" sound now! Jaci noted that he is trying to imitate the words ball, book, bubbles, and bye-bye!!

New Toy

Today, I bought Drew a new toy with the money from returning all of the doubles he received at his birthday party. He was more entertained standing up to it and playing then actually riding it though...

Go Cougars!

My little sister started 8th grade on Monday and had her first school softball game today--a double header. It was pretty hot out, so Drew and I only made it to part of her first game.





Drew was "off schedule" today, so when I put him down for his nap, he threw quite the fit on me! Then he started coughing and it sounded like he was going to get choked, so I went back into his room to get him, and as soon as I did...he threw up on both of us! So, I stripped him down, changed my shirt, and did something I haven't done in a while - rocked him to sleep! Then I put him on the couch and watched t.v. while he slept...

He said "Ba!"

The last couple of days I thought I noticed Drew making a "b" sound, but I wasn't sure. Today, when his speech therapist was here, she said that it was definitely a "b" sound! Yay Drew!!!! It's kind of like "mmmm,ba" so not a 'strong b' yet, but we'll take it! Hopefully "d" will be next -- I know that Jon would be so happy if Drew said "dada."

A Weekend of Parties

Friday night, Drew, Jon, Whitney, and I went to a "Welcome Home" party at one of our friend's house. He lives way out in the county, but Drew enjoyed the trip on the gravels! They had tons of great food and then fireworks!

Whitney stayed the night with us last night. This morning, her and Drew played with (in) the grocery cart and watched a little Baby E!



Then later today, we celebrated my Nanny and Poppy's 50th anniversary!



Then we went to my mom and step-dad's where Drew is spending the night! Jon and I are getting ready to watch a movie (once he gets back from going on a popcorn run). I think it's the first movie we've rented since Drew has been born!

In Remembrance

In remembrance of my Papa, William Ronald Baldwin

2/19/1940 to 8/15/2006

He was my grandpa, but was more like a dad to me. And for good reason since I spent every summer and every weekend with my Mama and Papa until my teenage years!

I know that Drew would have loved his Papa just as much as I did. I like to think that Papa is Drew's guardian angel -- watching over him everyday and helping him through the hard times.

I love and miss you Papa!

Well, daddy is finishing up with Drew's nightly bowel of oatmeal, which means it's my turn to read bedtime stories! Drew loves being read to. We always finish with Goodnight Moon, which makes him so sleepy :)
