Halloween Party at School

Today at Drew's daycare, they had their annual "Make Believe Parade and Party." Drew doesn't normally go out there on Friday's, but me and my mom decided to take him so he could participate. After a rocky start to our morning, we braved the rain and made it just in time to suit Drew up! He luckily doesn't mind his costume (headgear and all!).

Meet "Prince Drew-Frog"

My fear was that with me and mom there, he wouldn't be interested in doing anything other than having his grandma hold him, but he proved me wrong! He held onto their little rope thing the whole time and loved getting candy from everyone!

I also came to realize that while Drew can definitely have his moments, overall he is pretty well behaved --- there were kids who refused to put their costumes on, kids who cried during the entire walk, kids who wouldn't hold onto the rope, kids who wouldn't leave their parents side, etc.... But not Drew! He was very happy-go-lucky and just seemed to take everything in!

After the parade, they returned to their room and had cupcakes, punch, candy, and cheesy puffs! My mom said to me, "I hope you don't expect him to eat a good lunch today!"

I love my little Drew-Frog so much and am thankful for all of the help my mom always give me :o)

Pumpkin Patch 2009

The odds seemed against us when it came to making it to the pumpkin patch this year. (Check out our first visit here.) Since the month of October was so busy, we planned to all go on the last Saturday of September with our friends Gabe and Laurie and their two little ones Colten and Dalton. We ended up canceling it so we could attend little Kase's first birthday party.

Try #2 -- Drew and I were going to go with the Little Lamb's group from church a couple of weeks ago. I had taken the day off from work and everything. However, because of bad weather and a lot of sickness, that trip got canceled.

So in a last ditch effort to make it to the pumpkin patch, Laurie and I made some last minute plans to go today. I was so excited! But then Laurie called this morning and said that Colten was sick so they wouldn't be able to go. With no one else to go with us, I decided to take Drew by myself!

When we got there, there were THREE SCHOOL BUSES of kids running around!!! We got a wagon and picked out a few pumpkins, which were pretty picked over. Then we played alongside some of the kindergartners in the play barn. (And don't think that I wasn't prepared -- my pockets were full of hand sanitizing wipes!)

My favorite memory: The slide! It was big, but not too fast. Drew and I went down it together a couple of times after all the kids cleared out and then he decided to do it by himself. Every time he got about half way down, he would flip over on his belly and have the biggest smile on his face! It was so sweet and so funny :o)

One piece of bad news...In an attempt to quickly grab my camera, I knocked it off a table. It turns on and the flash pops up, but it won't take a picture. I can hear it making some kind of weird sound...I hope I can get it fixed! Otherwise, it might be time to upgrade! (I guess a broken camera might not be so bad after all!)

Some pics from before the camera incident:

Drew thought the pumpkin would make a nice chair!

Goodbye Curls...Sniff, Sniff...

This wasn't Drew's first haircut (that happened back in January), but for some reason, this one might have been harder on me! Maybe it was because he had developed that head full of curls. Unfortunatley, it only curled up good if it was humid out or if he had gotten sweaty! Otherwise, he would wake up in the morning with a head full of fuzz!

Yesterday he was having a pretty good curl day. I snapped this pic with my camera phone right before he got it cut. Everyone at the salon was ewwwing and ahhhing over those curls!

The end result was good though --- maybe a bit shorter that I had planned, but I'm sure it will grow back.

What do you think? He looks all grown up now doesn't he??
~Love you Drew~

Thursday Random Ramblings -- On Friday!

This is my first time playing along with Brooke, and yes, I'm a day late...I had good intentions of posting this yesterday, but... Anywho, here we go!

The last three weeks at daycare, they have been transitioning Drew from the toddler room to the 2.5 to 3.5 year old room. I asked for them to go ahead and move him so that he would be around more kids who were talking, which will hopefully help out with his speech. He only goes on Tuesdays and Jon usually takes him, but since this Tuesday was his first day of being in the new room all day, I decided to go so I could meet his teachers and stuff. Let me just say that when I left, I had tears in my eyes and I called Jon crying because I did not like that room and all I wanted to do was turn around and go back and get him! I was use to the toddler teachers scooping him up and making him feel welcome right away and just being really, really, friendly. When I entered the new room, the two teachers were sitting in chairs and they stayed there. No, "So your Drew's mom?" etc. I went to hang his coat up and he didn't even have a cubby yet :( I also had returned a coat that wasn't Drew's that he brought home last week and when I asked where Drew's was the reply was, "Well, I'm sure it's around here somewhere." So I left. And I cried. I even emailed the head of the center about my experience (yes, I'm THAT mom). Then I decided to call out there because the one teacher that I did know from his class wasn't there yet when I was. When I called, I got some news that made everything make sense...I had taken Drew to the WRONG ROOM! No wonder the teachers acted like they didn't know who he was or anything. Looking back, you would have thought they would have asked me some questions?? During breakfast I guess they figured it out and got him back to his correct room. How's that for a Not Me Monday...I did not take my child to the wrong room at daycare...

******************

Jon's nephew was diagnosed with the swine flu on Tuesday. From what I've heard, anyone testing positive for Influenza A right now, they are assuming it is the swine flu. So needless to say, Drew did not say with Aunt B this week!

******************

Jon is the chairman of our local Duck's Unlimited chapter and their annual fundraising banquet is this Saturday night so we have been super busy getting ready for that! It's a lot of work, but I really enjoy it once everything comes together. Too bad my real job can't be planning events for not-for-profits! (Maybe if we won the Powerball like that doctor in Florida just did...)

******************

My beloved Cardinals got swept in the playoffs by the Dodgers. It was quite depressing. Not sure who to root for now.

******************

I found out on Saturday that our local Dairy Queen no longer has Brownie Batter Blizzards, which is probably a good thing because I was addicted to them. Maybe now I can get back on track with the South Beach diet. Jon and I have both (unfortunately) gained almost all of the weight back that we lost this spring...

******************

Drew's Halloween costume came in this week and it is CUTE! Every time he sees it, he wants to put it on! My luck, he'll probably refuse to wear it come Halloween!

******************

One last thing...a cute picture of Drew! (And no, I wasn't taking pictures with my phone while driving...)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Fall Is In The Air

We had a wonderful fall weekend! On Saturday night we went to Ava's 4th birthday. She is my BFF's daughter and she is so cute and so smart and so much fun to be around! The party was at her grandparent's house and they live right on the Ohio river. Drew enjoyed watching the barges...

Kathleen, Ava, & Drew:

Kisses from the bday girl!

Lookin' cute :o)

Beautiful brown-eyed girl!

After the party, we picked up Whitney and once home, her and I watched "The Haunting in Connecticut." Not a good idea to watch right before bed... Anyway, Sunday afternoon was a perfect fall day. Drew rode his tricycle...

And we got some of our fall decorations out. Drew couldn't get over the scare crow!

I can't wait for our trip to the pumpkin patch on Thursday!!

Playing Catch-up Again

April 15th isn't the only busy time in a CPA's life. This year our office has had a busy 10/15 too...you know, for those people who have decided to wait until the absolute last minute to file their 2008 taxes! Anyway, that has been keeping me busy...that and two days out of town at CPE. So anyway -- let's get started!!

After Kase's first birthday party, we went on a hay ride at our friends Brian and Shelly's house. Drew got to the spend the night with Grandma and Grandpa while we enjoyed some time with our friends!

Shelly, me, and Angie getting ready for the hayride!

Briley and Kesli -- 1st graders! I told them I was going to save this pic for their senior year slide show :o)

Jeff, Kase, and Jon

Here we go! Our wonderful driver Brian!!

Me and Braci!

Some of our friends on the other wagon... (See the girl with the gray hoodie? That's Candice and she just started blogging too!!)

It was kind of cold, but everyone had a great time on the hayride...the 3 hour hayride!!!

--------------------

Jon's birthday was September 30th. Since I had to be out of town for work on that day, Drew and I baked his cake on Monday (9/28) and we had it and let Jon open his presents on the 29th.

I made my first round cake and let me just say that I'm not sure how my mama always makes her icing look so darn good!

--------------------

Saturday was the big parade in my hometown. Drew really enjoyed it this year since he was able to get the whole concept of having candy thrown at him!

"Give me MORE!!!"

Riding rides with his buddy Kesli and cousin Aiden.

And in action!

--------------------

And now for some sad news...RIP Bubba the Bird... On Monday night our bird died. What? You didn't know we had a bird? Maybe that's because we just got it on SATURDAY! (My mom bought it for Drew at the parade). So here's a look back at our happy times (a whole two days) with Bubba...
